iCAN Connect Workshop: Neuroception & Emotional Intelligence

Neuroception & Inclusion: How Diversity Leaders Can Harness Emotional Intelligence for Impact

📍 Specialist in-person workshop for Employee Network Leads, HR, DEI, and Talent teams in insurance
🗓️ Hosted by iCAN Connect, in partnership with Allianz Commercial and Roger Taylor, CEO of Famn

Join us for an interactive, thought-provoking workshop designed specifically for professionals working in DEI, Talent, HR, and employee networks across the insurance sector.

This session explores neuroception – how our nervous system unconsciously scans for safety or threat – and how this deeply affects inclusion, emotional safety, and leadership in the workplace.

Why this matters:

Inclusion isn't just a strategy – it's a biological and emotional experience. With rising global uncertainty and political change, understanding how humans respond to safety, stress, and social cues is essential for any leader driving meaningful DEI change.

Creating a culture of inclusion requires understanding how our nervous system constantly scans for safety or threat – a process that profoundly impacts our stress levels, decision-making, relationships, and sense of belonging. This workshop will explore neuroception – the unconscious detection of safety and danger – and how it influences inclusion and exclusion in the workplace.

With global challenges shaping the way we experience belonging, particularly with the recent political changes, this session will provide practical strategies for building resilience, psychological safety and inclusive leadership. The link between neuroception and inclusion becomes important for DEI leaders in understanding how people respond to social interactions, communications, how leaders assess emotional and non-verbal cues and how we can bring more emotional intelligence into hiring processes.

Key Takeaways:

• How stress and nervous system responses shape inclusion/exclusion

• The link between emotional intelligence, belonging, and organisational impact

• Why inclusion is an evolutionary process – and how to use this knowledge to drive change

• Strategies to engage senior leaders and allies in DEI efforts

Discussion Topics:

• What is stress, and how does it affect workplace inclusion?

• The difference between endurance and resilience in DEI work

• How leaders’ sense of safety impacts their response to inclusion

• Practical tools to strengthen engagement with senior leaders and allies

This highly interactive session will equip attendees with practical tools to navigate workplace challenges, enhance resilience, and develop inclusion at every level of the organisation.

This in-person workshop is expected to be very popular, so sign up and get your seat!
