What is the Professional Map?

The Professional Map is a powerful career development tool designed to support individuals in identifying their training needs and preparing for various aspects of their professional journey. From appraisals and career planning to job applications and progression, this tool serves as a comprehensive guide to success in the workplace, driving excellence and driving positive customer outcomes.

It is built around three core components:

Technical Expertise
Role-specific knowledge and skills required to perform effectively and meet business objectives.

Behaviours
How individuals apply their knowledge in practice, including decision-making, judgement and working relationships.

Enablers
Awareness of the wider working environment, such as regulation, governance and professional standards, that support effective behaviour.

While Technical Expertise varies by role, Behaviours and Enablers apply to everyone, making the Map a powerful, universal tool for professionalism and leadership development.
