An in-person iCAN and CII session examining leadership, professionalism and how the CII Professional Map supports high-performing teams.
Insurance Cultural Awareness Network (iCAN), in collaboration with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and Allied World, invites you to an in-person leadership and professional development session focused on building strong, aligned teams within insurance.
This session will explore how the CII Professional Map can be used as a practical tool to support leadership, career development and professionalism across organisations. From appraisals and progression to team capability and customer outcomes, the Professional Map offers a shared framework that supports both individual growth and organisational success.
Designed for professionals at all stages, particularly people managers, network leaders and those involved in talent, learning or development, this session will combine insight, discussion and real-world application.
What Is the CII Professional Map?
The CII Professional Map is a career development framework that helps individuals and organisations understand what good looks like in professional practice.
It is built around three core components:
Technical Expertise
Role-specific knowledge and skills required to perform effectively and meet business objectives.
Behaviours
How individuals apply their knowledge in practice, including decision-making, judgement and working relationships.
Enablers
Awareness of the wider working environment, such as regulation, governance and professional standards, that support effective behaviour.
While Technical Expertise varies by role, Behaviours and Enablers apply to everyone, making the Map a powerful, universal tool for professionalism and leadership development.
