International Networking in New York City: iCAN’s First US Summer Drinks Event

iCAN hosted its first-ever Summer Networking Drinks in the United States—and it was everything we envisioned and more.

Held at Aon’s stunning Financial District offices in New York City, the event brought together insurance professionals from both New York and the UK, celebrating our shared commitment to community, collaboration, and culture.

Co-hosted with the brilliant teams at NAAIA NY - National African American Insurance Association (New York Tri-State) and MRIA - Multicultural (Re)Insurance Association, and proudly sponsored by Aon, the evening marked a new chapter for iCAN’s growing international network.

A Celebration of Global Community and Shared Purpose

The event provided a relaxed, vibrant space for professionals from across the industry to reconnect, expand their networks, and learn more about the growing work iCAN is doing on both sides of the Atlantic.

From emerging talent to seasoned leaders, the room was filled with individuals passionate about shaping a more inclusive insurance sector.

Ajay Mistry, Co-Founder and Co-Chair of iCAN, reflected on the evening:

“It was truly brilliant to partner with such influential organisations like NAAIA and MRIA – both doing powerful work in this space.

A huge thank you to Aon for their continued belief in our vision and for making this event possible. Nights like this show what’s possible when networks come together with shared purpose – and we can't wait to continue our impact in the USA.”

Strengthening Partnerships, Expanding Reach

As iCAN continues to grow, developing meaningful partnerships across the US is a key part of our strategy. Events like this allow us to not only support our global sponsors, but also to create spaces of belonging and opportunity for underrepresented talent in the insurance sector.

This event is just the beginning of a broader effort to expand our reach and impact across the US market.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to:

  • NAAIA NY Tri-State, an organisation doing phenomenal work in advancing Black professionals in insurance

  • MRIA, for championing multicultural inclusion and equity in the (re)insurance sector

  • And to our event sponsors at Aon, for their continued leadership and support

Special appreciation to Formeka Hayslett and James Bradley, whose collaboration helped bring this event to life.

At iCAN, we believe in the power of community to drive real, lasting change. As our presence in the US grows, we look forward to continuing to build partnerships, host impactful events, and connect diverse professionals across borders.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in New York City. We can’t wait to welcome you to the next one.
