Coffee with the CEO with Scott Egan, SiriusPoint – iCAN New York

We’re proud to have marked a major milestone in iCAN’s journey: our first-ever Coffee with the CEO event in New York. Hosted at the iconic One World Trade Center, this special session featured a powerful and engaging conversation with Scott Egan, CEO of SiriusPoint.

This event brought together members of our growing iCAN New York community and opened up a space for authentic discussion around leadership, growth, and inclusion in the insurance industry.

A Conversation Rooted in Honesty and Insight

Scott Egan brought a refreshing mix of honesty, humour, and humility to the conversation. Drawing on his personal and professional experiences, he shared insights into what it takes to lead through change, push personal boundaries, and stay grounded in values.

Here are some of the key takeaways from the session:

Lead with Clarity

In times of uncertainty, leaders must be visible, accessible, and clear. Scott emphasised the importance of consistent communication and helping teams feel connected to direction and purpose—even when the path ahead is unclear.

Don’t Fear the Unknown

You don’t need to have all the answers. Scott reminded us that resilience is built through challenge and that stepping into the unknown is often where the most growth happens.

Push Your Limits

Growth begins where comfort ends. Scott encouraged attendees to embrace discomfort, take bold steps, and believe in themselves. With determination and hard work, you can stretch far beyond what you think is possible.

DEI Is a Business Priority

Inclusion, Scott shared, must be embedded in a company’s culture—not treated as a side initiative. True progress comes when organisations reflect the diversity of their customers and prioritise equity in every aspect of the business. He also highlighted the importance of building teams with cognitive and learning diversity, as this leads to stronger, more innovative outcomes.

Own Your Career

Scott described career development as a sports bag—a space to continually add new tools, skills, and experiences. He spoke about the value of mentorship, not just professionally but personally, and the importance of creating safe spaces to grow, explore, and be challenged.

We’re incredibly grateful to Scott Egan and the SiriusPoint team for not only hosting us in such an inspiring space, but also for helping to expand iCAN’s impact across the US.

This event was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we create spaces for connection, conversation, and courage. We look forward to many more moments like this as our iCAN New York community continues to grow.
