iCAN Role Models 2025: Celebrating Our First U.S. Role Models Edition

We are proud to launch a very special edition of our Role Models book - one that marks a major milestone in iCAN’s journey toward global inclusion in the insurance industry.

For the first time, this latest edition features 20 inspiring role models from across the United States – celebrating multicultural professionals who are not only excelling in their careers but are also actively creating more inclusive workplaces, challenging bias and paving the way for the next generation of insurance leaders.

Their voices now sit alongside 60 role models from the UK, forming the biggest and most international iCAN Role Models book to date:

As iCAN continues to grow its presence in the U.S., we’re excited to spotlight individuals who represent the rich diversity of talent shaping the American insurance industry. These are professionals working across underwriting, broking, claims, compliance, operations, HR, and beyond - each bringing their unique perspective and story to the table.

This book is more than just a celebration of individual achievement. It’s a powerful reminder of how visibility, representation and inclusion can transform the culture of our workplaces – and our industry as a whole.

Speaking about the release of the U.S. edition, iCAN Co-Founder & Co-Chair Ajay Mistry said:

“We’re incredibly proud to publish our first U.S. Role Models book as part of our 8-year anniversary. Expanding our network into the U.S. has shown us that the desire for representation and inclusion is universal, and the stories in this book reflect that beautifully.

“Our deepest thanks go to the role models who shared their journeys so openly, and to our partners across both the U.S. and UK who’ve helped bring this publication to life.”

Kishan Mangat, iCAN Co-Chair, added:

“These role models are more than just professionals – they are community builders, advocates and changemakers – and their impact goes far beyond their job titles.

“By amplifying these voices, we hope to continue shifting the narrative around who belongs in insurance and what leadership really looks like. This is just the beginning of our journey in the U.S., and we’re thrilled to have these 20 individuals leading the way.”

A Growing Legacy of Representation

Our Role Models book series began in 2019, when we partnered with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to publish Multicultural and International Role Models. That first edition profiled 35 individuals from across the UK insurance sector, highlighting how their diverse heritages shaped their careers and contributed to the industry.

In 2023, to mark our sixth anniversary, we released 60 Role Models for 6 Years of iCAN - a bigger, bolder book spotlighting professionals at all levels of the industry who were actively driving inclusion, challenging systemic barriers and making space for others to grow.

Now, in 2025, 80 Role Models for 8 Years of iCAN marks our most global edition yet - and our first ever to include American professionals.

Why This Matters

We know that representation matters, and that when people can see others who look like them or share their lived experiences in leadership roles, they’re more likely to envision their own success. But too often, multicultural professionals in insurance still face barriers to progression, visibility and support.

That’s why this publication matters. It’s not just about who’s in the spotlight - it’s about what that spotlight represents: opportunity, possibility and the power of inclusion.

Read, Share, Celebrate

We invite everyone - from students and early-career professionals to hiring managers, allies and industry leaders - to read the book, reflect on the stories and share them widely.

Let’s use this moment to celebrate how far we’ve come, recommit to the work still ahead, and continue building an industry that works for everyone.
