International Women's Day 2024 #InspiringInclusion

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on the 8th of March every year to recognise and appreciate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is #InspireInclusion.

To inspire inclusion means to celebrate diversity and empowerment on International Women's Day 2024 and beyond.

The goal is to encourage everyone to recognise the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalised communities.

This underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected.

The first International Women's Day was observed in 1911. Since then it has become a global event celebrated in many countries. The day also highlights the ongoing fight for gender equality and women's rights around the world.

When we inspire others to understand and appreciate the importance of women's inclusion, we pave the way for a better, more equitable world.

Let's come together to forge a more inclusive world for everyone. Whether it's through individual actions or organisational initiatives, each of us has a role to play in championing inclusion and diversity.

Here are some ideas for celebrating IWD in your workplace:

Host a panel discussion or workshop
Invite women leaders or experts in your industry to share their experiences and insights about women's issues and gender equality.

Organise a mentorship or networking event
Encourage connecting women in your organisation with mentors or other women in their field to help them advance their careers.

 Decorate your workplace
Decorate your office or workspace with posters, banners and other visual displays that highlight women's achievements and the ongoing fight for gender equality.

 Organise a fundraiser
Raise money for a women's charity or organisation that supports women's rights and gender equality.

 Share stories and experiences
Spotlight your colleagues to share their stories and experiences related to gender inequality and women's rights. This can help raise awareness and create a more inclusive workplace culture.
