iCANConnect session: LV=General Insurance - Reverse Mentoring Programme

September’s iCANConnect session featured guests from LV=’s Reverse Mentorship program.  A powerful and insightful presentation and panel sharing details on what reverse mentoring means, the benefits it offers, an effective framework and tips on how to ensure a safe physiological space for both mentors and mentees.

In this session, we covered:

  • What is reverse mentoring?

  • The benefits of reverse mentoring

  • LV=’s journey and how they overcame some of the practical issues to achieve success

  • How to work with your Senior Execs on this topic

  • What to do next once you’ve started

Susan Richards, Service Delivery Manager at LV= shared her thoughts on the programme:

“The greatest part of the session for me was being able to share how we have implemented reverse mentoring in our company, and also having our execs taking time to attend the call to discussing their own personal experiences. This has been really beneficial for our organisation to be part of such a programme, as each person has learnt so much over time, and because we created that safe space to do so.

“Companies should try, even if on a small scale, to be open to discuss what is working and what isn’t. Then you can look to increase the amount of people who go through the programme. You will definitely see growth with both parties and more people of colour feeling comfortable as they see the business willing to educate and understand”.

The presentation and the video recording of this session are both available for all D&I network leaders.
