Champions of Inclusivity: Lloyd's Inspiring Portraits unveiled at the 2023 Dive In Festival

At this year’s Dive In Festival, iCAN sponsor Lloyd’s unveiled a fantastic exhibition of Diverse & Inclusive Champions showcasing the remarkable journeys of six individuals within the Lloyd’s market.

These champions have been at the forefront of promoting inclusive practices for decades, and their stories are nothing short of incredible.

Lloyd's went above and beyond to make this exhibition a memorable experience. To visually capture the essence of these champions' journeys, they commissioned the talented artist, Franklyn Rodgers.

With his artistic prowess, Rodgers has brought these stories to life through a series of portraits that are currently on display in the Old Library of the Lloyd's Building. Each portrait is a work of art that reflects the unique path and significance of the individuals it represents.

Find out more about the six individuals whose portraits feature in the exhibition below:

Kirat Kaur Nandra

Kirat, a graduate of Chubb, is not only a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion champion but also one of our iCAN Role Models. Her dedication to promoting inclusivity is truly commendable.

David Flint

David, CEO of Blue Mountain Capacity Limited, holds the distinction of being the first black broker in the Lloyd's market, a groundbreaking achievement that has paved the way for others to follow.

Erik Johnson

Erik is a co-founder of three Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion partner networks and another iCAN Role Model. His contributions to fostering inclusivity have been instrumental in shaping the Lloyd's market.

Sheila Cameron

Sheila made history as the first female Chief Executive of the Lloyd's Market Association, breaking barriers and inspiring countless others.

Rebecca Mason

Rebecca, from MS Alins, was the first openly trans woman in the Lloyd's market - a testament to her courage and resilience in promoting diversity.

Rob Anarfi

Rob, from Beazley, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion champion and iCAN Role Model, has made significant strides in advocating for inclusivity within the Lloyd's market.

Kirat Kaur Nandra beautifully encapsulates the essence of this exhibition when she says, "[Lloyd's Inclusive Portraits] is about representation and that matters for people like me. If people see someone that looks like them as part of history, it's a game changer."

These portraits, alongside their associated stories, not only celebrate the champions themselves but also serve as beacons of hope and inspiration for future generations.

Erik Johnson echoes this sentiment, emphasising the importance of representation: "Representation matters. Having the portraits and associated stories better reflects the modern Lloyd's."

The 2023 Dive In Festival has taken a significant step towards promoting diversity and inclusion within the insurance industry, and these portraits stand as a testament to the progress we've made and the positive change yet to come.

We look forward to a future where inclusivity reigns supreme, thanks to the dedication and courage of individuals like those celebrated in this remarkable exhibition.
